Molecular LogiX: a logical approach to protein engineering, drug discovery and development,  at the molecular level.

Text Box: Molecular LogiX is a drug discovery company in The Woodlands, Texas. We are using our proprietary “Dominant Negative Ligand Drug Discovery System” to produce new drug candidates based on well characterized, naturally-occurring human proteins.  Our most advanced compound is a “Pan-HER” Anti-Cancer Ligand (ACL), which is:     ·       A “re-engineered” version of the human Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF). ·       Aimed at the most important group of molecular targets in cancer, the Human Epidermal Receptors (HER).  ·       Based on a unique, clinically–validated molecular mechanism that can complement or replace current HER-targeting therapeutics such as TarcevaÒ, ErbituxÒ, TykerbÒ and HerceptinÒ, whose combined annual sales exceed $3.6 billion. ·       The first in a new class of therapeutics with the potential for substantially superior properties compared to current drugs.   MLX’s Dominant Negative Ligands (DNL) are proprietary variants of clinically-relevant human proteins. We use advanced structural and experimental tools to re-design these proteins to create potent targeted antagonists that interfere with the ligand-dependent progression of disease.  We expect our first lead, which interferes with the entire “HER axis”, to be effective against a number of tumor types, and especially relevant in treating tumors that have become resistant to standard "HER-Targeted" drugs. We have a pipeline of additional compounds that target other clinically and commercially validated targets.  We are collaborating with leading scientists and clinicians at the Texas Medical Center in Houston and elsewhere in order to minimize the time from “bench to bedside”.  We’ve assembled an experienced team to develop our drug candidates.  We plan to complete Phase I/II “Proof of Principle” clinical trials in humans and license our drug leads to larger biotech/pharma companies for commercialization, in exchange for up-front payments, milestone payments and royalties. We have extensive IP coverage on specific compounds and on the DNL Drug Discovery System for producing new therapeutic agents.   Molecular LogiX has developed a proprietary drug discovery platform, a lead compound with blockbuster potential and a pipeline of additional compounds.  The Company has been financed through $1.8 million in highly competitive NIH SBIR grants, a series of milestone-driven investments from BCM Technologies, (the venture development subsidiary of Baylor College of Medicine) and most recently by a $800,000 Award from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund. The Company is evaluating strategic alliances and additional early stage investors in order to accelerate the preclinical development of our lead compound and support further work on compounds in our pipeline.  MLX is poised for significant growth and increased value as it moves its new drug candidates from the laboratory into the clinic.
